Lynne says she often feels like she’s speaking with family when she’s helping older Australians understand their insurance options. She describes meeting new people and reconnecting with familiar faces (and voices) as what she loves most about her job as a Travel Insurance Consultant with us.
What’s your role at COTA Insurance?
I’m a Travel Insurance Sales Consultant and I provide insurance quotes to customers wherever they’re planning to travel across the world.
I love to have a chat. Our customers have rich life experiences and interesting tales to tell. Talking to people and hearing about their adventures makes for a good day’s work. I particularly enjoy meeting new people at Travel Expos and catching up with the new and familiar faces of our members at COTA Holiday morning teas.
Why did you choose to work with us?
I’ve worked in insurance for more than 25 years and I’ve pretty much done it all – from home and contents as well as car claims, to investigations and assessing, counter and phone sales.
I love dealing with older Australians. Policies are complex if you don’t work in the area – I like that I can take time to answer questions and explain the options to COTA customers.
What’s something you like doing when you’re not at work?
My favourite pastime is baking. Actually, it’s feeding people! I also collect snow globes.
Something I’d really love to do is take my family to New York so we can experience Christmas and New Year together. Christmas is my favourite time of the year and it’s been 30 years since I was in the Big Apple. Also on the list is swimming with a Whale Shark.
What do you think makes COTA Insurance different to other insurers?
We take the time to talk and listen to our customers. We don’t just work in a call centre we help customers understand their insurance and sometimes they become like family. That’s what makes this job so special.
Our team is small but we do a mighty fantastic job providing customer service we can be proud of.
What’s something people might not know about COTA Insurance?
Most people know us for our travel insurance policies, specifically that we don’t have an age limit for single-trip cover. But we also offer Car, Home & Contents, Landlord, Caravan and more.
Can you describe a time when you were really proud to work at COTA Insurance?
You might have come across, Elva, a customer of ours who features in our advertising. I felt proud that we could provide travel insurance to her so she could live her dream of travelling to the South Pole. She’s an inspirational lady and meeting her was an extra bonus!
