Fun Spring Activities

Check out these fun, cheap and cheerful spring activities that you can do alone, with a partner or friend or even with grandchildren.

Ride a bike

Take a leisurely ride around your neighbourhood or hit the bike trails. Cycling is a fun way to enjoy fresh air and get some exercise, whether you go solo, with friends, or join a local bike club.

Have a picnic

Pack a light spring picnic and spread out a blanket on the grass. Picnics are always enjoyable, whether in your backyard, at a park, or by the beach—so many options to choose from!

Hiking

Spring is the perfect time to explore the great outdoors. Hiking and nature walks can suit any fitness level, making them accessible for everyone.

Pick berries

There’s something magical about picking your own strawberries—walking, bending, stretching, and savouring the sweet taste of fresh berries right from the vine.

Visit a farmers market

Itys fun to visit farmer’s markets year-round, but spring is particularly special with the fresh produce. Such as berries, asparagus, rhubarb, and other seasonal delights.

Bird watch

Spring is a fantastic time to go bird watching since the birds will be congregating in big groups, making them easier to see. You may even purchase a bird-watching book for a count of the different birds you can spot!

Fly a kite

When was the last time you flew a kite? Choose a breezy day and head to an open area to enjoy this nostalgic activity. A special young person in your life will love this!

Hang a bird feeder

Bird feeders are not only useful to hang in your backyard for the sole purpose of bird-watching, but during the nesting season in particular, bird feeders help parent birds gather more food for their baby birds!

Host a tea party

Throwing a lovely outdoor tea party, even for a small group, can be a fun spring event, especially if you have a garden or outdoor area. Kids will especially enjoy it, too!

Camping

If you enjoy camping, warmer spring temperatures and better weather make it even better. Pack your tent and backpack and head off for a few nights of isolation in the great outdoors. Or lure your friends with some marshmallows!

Go to a zoo

Visit the zoo on a sunny day when the animals are more active and you might even catch a glimpse of adorable babies. No zoo nearby? Consider a petting zoo or a working farm instead.

Plant a garden

Whether you have a spacious yard or just a small balcony, planting flowers, herbs or vegetables is a wonderful way to connect with nature and enjoy the season.

Spring cleaning

It’s a time-honoured tradition to thoroughly clean and deep clean all of the surfaces in our home during spring cleaning, along with getting rid of anything outdated or unwanted. Although it may seem tedious, it can really be quite therapeutic.

Have a garage sale

A relatively easy way to get rid of household items and appliances you no longer need. And earn quick cash while doing so! The weather is usually perfect for a garage sale. Check out our decluttering advice HERE.

Decorate your home for spring

A terrific idea is to decorate your home for the season. You may decorate your space with a bouquet of wildflowers, switch throw pillows and bedding, and perhaps even paint your room a new colour. After that, your room will seem a lot more springlike!

Walk on the beach

If you live near the ocean or a large lake, enjoy a peaceful stroll along the shore before the summer crowds arrive.

Host a BBQ

Savour the spring weather by dining outdoors with your guests. Any meal tastes better with a side of fresh air!

Make spring inspired art

There is no doubt that spring is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. Creating art, inspired by spring,  can be a delightful pastime for people of all ages. Simply take pictures, sketch, paint, or use your preferred medium.

Tackle home projects

Home renovations and projects are great springtime activities. Much more can be done around the house now that it is warmer. Longer daytime hours and a desire to spend more time outside may also inspire you to take on some renovations around the house!

Plan a summer holiday

Although many of us will be taking a break from work or school over the summer, the spring is a great time to plan for it. Plan your summer holiday by arranging accommodations, flights and / or activities, before everything is booked up.

Play a backyard game

The ideal spring pastime for adults and children is playing lawn games. There are many excellent backyard game options that will keep everyone engaged for hours! They are also fantastic for playing at picnics, BBQs, or outdoor birthday parties. Games can include croquet, bocce, and cornhole. If you have space, badminton and volleyball are also fantastic options.

Visit a flower farm

Spring blooms are breathtaking! Take a stroll through a flower farm to enjoy the vibrant colours and perhaps bring home a bouquet or two.

Go stargazing

Stargazing is best on clear, calm nights. Download a star chart app to identify constellations, and you might even spot a comet or satellite!

Spruce up your backyard

You’ll be spending plenty of time outdoors in the coming months, so why not make your backyard inviting? Choose a colour scheme and make your outdoor space as cozy and welcoming as your indoor one with comfortable fabrics, plants, and lighting.

Go on a mural hunt

Many cities have beautiful outdoor murals on buildings, in parks, and tucked away in alleyways. Explore your surroundings by searching for murals and snap photos with each one you find!
